THE 55 BIG SWIM relay swimmers donated US$27,000 to the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation as a result of their recent 26-mile crossing of the Santa Barbara Channel.
After enjoying the channel crossing, the team members donated an incredible average of US$490 per swimmer to the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. Daniel Belding kicked off the efforts by raising $9,100.
The annual event was captured in a documentary called THE BIG SWIM filmed and produced by the Ocean Channel.
