Getting Into the Spirit Of Things

Photo gives a hint of the enthusiasm and uniqueness of the Espiritu Santo Swim in the Pacific Island archipelago of Vanuatu. The 1.5K and 3.2K Vanuatu Ocean Swims are held in the beautifully clear, sheltered waters and reefs of Port Vila while the 2.6K Espiritu Santo Aore Swim stretches across the Segond Channel separating Vanuatu’s Big Island (Espiritu Santo) and the the island of Aore.

An interesting feature of the Espiritu Santo Aore Swim is the traditional outrigger canoes, one of the most ancient forms of water transport, that provide escort and safety support for the swimmers crossing the channel.
