Hot and Humid for the Olympic 10K
Dennis Miller, a FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee member, reported the following conditions at the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim course at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park:
Water Temperature: 31ºC (87.8ºF)
Air Temperature: 32ºC (89.6ºF)
Air Conditions: Hazy with approximately 1-kilometer visibility
Humidity: 84%
Given that the athletes are going to make this the race of their lives, these temperatures may be somewhere in the range of "someone-is-going-to-push-it-too-far-and-be-sent-to-the-hospital".
