Tiburon Tune-up in Tahoe
The RCP Tiburon Mile team easily won this weekend's 32nd annual 11.5-mile (18.5K) Trans Tahoe Relay over 155 teams in 65ºF (18.3ºC) waters.
Winning in 3 hours and 10 minutes, the RCP Tiburon Mile team was an international mix of outstanding open water swimmers from Hawaii, Indiana, Russia and California.
Evgeny Bezruchenko was part of the winning team despite having spent last week in the English Channel. A former 14:53 1500-meter freestyler who won the 2001 World 10K Championships and the 2000 World 5K Championships, Bezruchenko had teammates who had also put in good recent efforts in big meets. John Kevin Koehler swam at the 2008 NCAA Championships and the U.S. Olympic Trials.
