International Field Takes Up Challenge In Dubai

A group of expatriates and international endurance swimmers field kicked off the inaugural 6.5K Palm Open Water Challenge Cup in Dubai last week.

South African Haydn Holmes won in 1 hours 22 minutes with Belgian swimmer Jordi Van Engelen second in 1:24 and American Bill Brackett third in 1:25.

Adam Winter, a founding member of Dubai Open Water Swimming Sports Association said, "Today’s race was a truly fitting curtain raiser for the Dubai Open Water Swimming Sports Association. Dubai has as part of its coastal waters, arguably the most picturesque and exciting open water swimming locations. We have proven through today’s race that Dubai is blessed with the potential to deliver world class open water swimming events. Over the coming months, we look forward to announcing some very exciting initiatives that will pinpoint Dubai as the premier open water swimming sports destination."
