The annual Pupkewitz Jetty Mile in Namibia will be held this Sunday. Namibia is between South Africa and Angola on the southwestern coast of Africa. The event is in Swakopmund, a holiday resort town about halfway along the Namibian coast. An 800-meter swim and a 2-mile biathlon (1-mile ocean swim from the Tiger Reef Beach Bar in Swakopmund to the Mole and a 1-mile run back) will be held.
Max Siedentopf is the defending champion, but will face some experienced multi-sport athletes in Tokkie Bombosch and Nico Sterk, who will all be competing for a variety of prizes and prize money (N$500) compliments of C.B. Enterprises.At the nexus of the inaccessible and unpopulated Namib desert with its huge sand dunes and the blue Atlantic Ocean, this event is something to attempt for the adventurous open water swimmer and multi-sport athlete.
