We apologize for not previously reporting that Liane Llewellyn from Yorkshire who completed a courageous 27 hour 35 minute two-way crossing of the English Channel under conditions that were described as one of the most difficult conditions in recent memory, is a past president of the British Long Distance Swimming Association.
Liane's roots are deep in the sport as both her mother and sister (Dee, another English Channel swimmer) are also past presidents of the British Long Distance Swimming Association.
Liane's double-crossing was nominated as one of the Great Open Water Swims of 2009. Voting can be done online here.
The trio of Llewellyn women may be understated, but their contributions and support of the sport have been greatly appreciated by many.
