Jamie Atherton's 162K charity swim around Dubai's Palm Jumeirah island in the United Arab Emirates was completed successfully in 5 hours and 29 minutes. Jamie, who was raising money for Bowel Cancer UK said, "All I've been focusing on during the past few months is the swim, and the support I've received in the build-up and today has made it worthwhile.""The swim was never about me; I wanted to do it in memory of my dear friend who passed away from cancer at the age of 27. I feel in surprisingly good shape. I was a little anxious swimming past Atlantis Hotel as the currents can be pretty choppy out there, but the swim went more smoothly than I thought."
