In his impressive 2009 third-quarter Business Report to the U.S. Masters Swimming board of directors, Executive Director Rob Butcher reported that the U.S. Masters Swimming's visionary open water swimming task force recommended creating the H2Open Series, an open water swimming series to be branded by U.S. Masters Swimming. The idea for the H2Open Series is for U.S. Masters Swimming to provide national exposure and promotion for key open water swimming events that are part of the series. U.S. Masters Swimming will invest capital to secure clinicians and provide branding at the venues.
This far forward-thinking announcement comes on the heels of masters swimmer Heidi George of the Los Altos Mountain View Masters placing sixth in the final rankings of the 2009 FINA 10KM Marathon Swimming World Cup circuit.
American masters swimming is coming on strong.
