195K Down, Only 305K To Go in Northern Ireland

By Saturday at 3:55 am, the world record attempt at the longest open water swimming relay in history was still going strong, albeit at night in the dark.

Trying to stay warm, Mickey Lynch (with event organizer Padraig Mallon) is getting ready to take over from Martin Mallon, shown above just completing his 3K leg.

The total distance covered by 11:00 am local time was 195K in 65 hours.

Their goal remains at least 500K (310 miles) in Camlough Lake in Newry in Northern Ireland to break the existing open water relay record of 480 kilometers (298 miles).
