Olympian Rostislav Vitek placed 8th in the the 2009 World Swimming Championship 25K race and swam the 4th fastest English Channel swim of all time with a 7:16 crossing this summer. Based on the Czech Republic's open water swimming website, there are many people who are also into open water swimming in the Czech Republic.
