Benefits from the Lake Padden Open Water Swim in Bellingham, Washington will go to the Bellingham Food Bank. Hosted by the Bellingham Masters Swim Club, the August 1st event will have a 2.5K and 5K race in addition to a 2.5K for swimmers between the ages of 13-18. The event will be held in memory of Maia Hakin, a long-time Bellingham Masters swimmer and race volunteer, who passed away last year in a bicycle accident. Maia's spirit of enthusiasm, dedication and friendliness will be long remembered by those who knew her.
