We learned from endurance athlete Vasanti Niemz that Karteek Clarke (shown on left) has completed his ninth English Channel crossing and Vedika Bolliger has completed her fifth English Channel crossing as vegetarians.

Actually, Karteek just completed his 10th crossing on Aug. 13, 2009, under the watchful eyes of Kevin Murphy, King of the Channel, and one of Vedika`s 5 crossings was part of a private Channel-triathlon Dover-Paris (with only a few hours of rest in between the 3 legs)! She also received the Gertrude Ederle Award for her 22 hour 27 min solo in 2003.
