During the 2007 World Swimming Championships in Melbourne, the swimmers ran into large smacks of blue blubber jellyfish.
"They were big," said Larisa Ilchenko who defended her 5K and 10K titles in Australia. "I could hear girls screaming on the first lap when they got stung."
Top professional marathon swimmer Angela Maurer agreed, "My whole body just burned. There were so many jellyfish out there."
