At the
FINA Bureau Meeting in Dubai this week,
FINA formally approved the dates of the 6th FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships that will be held in
Lac St-Jean in Roberal, Quebec, Canada from July 15-23, 2010.
Lac St-Jean is the long-time venue for the
Traversée Internationale du lac St-Jean, one of the
World's Top 100 Open Water Swims where the
FINA 10KM Marathon Swimming World Cup and the 32K
FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix have been held for years.

As is fitting for a world championship, the swimmers will compete in the world's most prestigious open water swimming venue with a long history. The swimmers are cheered on by more than 100,000 people who visit the area during La semaine de la Traversée Festival. Water temperature under 20°C (68°F) is expected.
Also, in an interesting note, FINA approved three new national federations (Fédération Djiboutienne de Natation, Fédération Tchadienne de Natation and Fédération Centrafricaine de Natation) to bring its total number of federations to 201.
