Swimming Australia will host a FINA Open Water Development Clinic in conjunction with the 2009 Australian Open Water Swimming Championships at the end of February.
The Clinic is open to all swimmers, coaches, volunteers and officials at no cost (including daytime meals and snacks during the clinic) which is a fantastic opportunity not always available. The latest rules, regulations and information will be shared with the Clinic participants.
The educational Clinic will run from Wednesday evening between February 25-28 at the Panthers Club in Penrith and the beautiful Sydney International Regatta Centre (shown on left) which is considered to be one of the top five rowing and sprint canoe/kayak courses in the world. It reminds us of the layout used at the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim venue at the Beijing Olympics.
The Clinic will be conducted by FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee member Dennis Miller who is one of the world’s most experienced administrators and referees of elite open water swimming. He judged at the Beijing Olympic 10K Marathon Swim, many pro marathon swims and the Asian Beach Games. The Clinic will include intensive classroom sessions and practical officiating lessons.
This wonderful educational clinic is an initiative of the FINA Development Program.
