Olympic Central reported that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) gave another (indirect) honor to open water swimming and to Natalie du Toit at its Olympic Golden Rings ceremony at The Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
The Beijing Olympics were the most-watched Olympics in history with more television coverage (over 220 territories) and more viewers. 27 films were reviewed by an international jury, chaired by IOC Honorary President Juan Antonio Samaranch, with 12 winners in 4 categories. The Olympic Golden Rings recognize the best television images of the summer and winter Olympic Games.
In the Best Athletes’ Profile, the bronze was awarded to NBC Olympics for its "Profile on Natalie du Toit", produced by Dick Ebersol, David Neal, Mark Levy, Brian Brown and Phil Parrish.
