How popular is the sport of open water swimming becoming? Swimming World Magazine is covering more and more open water swimming events. Major media players like NBC Universal Sports are exploring the possibility of covering the major open water races, from New Zealand to England.
Even water polo teams are doing it.
The most successful age-group water polo team in the U.S., SET Water Polo of Southern California, started its own open water team a few years ago. Players are encouraged to participate in the ocean swims along the California coast with some of the players even helping out with Catalina Channel crossings.Photos provided by Mark Cousineau.
