Back in 1999, Peggy Büchse appeared in a German TV documentary called Marathon - Peggy Büchse im Rio Parana. Peggy was very successful on the professional marathon swimming circuit (winning the 1997, 1998 and 1999 women's Atlantic City Around-the-Island Marathon Swims. She also won a gold medal in the 10 km race and a silver in the 5K race at the 2001 World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka, Japan and the gold in the 5K race at the 2000 World Open Water Swimming Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii.
