The open water swimming venue in Beijing is unbelievably large and well-equipped facilitiy. The course is simple yet challenging for the athletes.
But, at the pre-race meeting, the organizers sternly informed the coaches, administrators, staff and athletes that only the world's top open water swimmers are allowed to get in the water at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park. The signs around the venue clearly indicate the organizer's intentions.
