At the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park before the start of the Olympic 10K qualification races, the athletes were taken from the Call Room to the starting area via tram cars like at Disneyland. Although the distance was not far (300 meters or so), the athletes appreciated this convenient mode of transportation right before their races.
When the athletes were transported from their hotel to the venue, all traffic was blocked up the street from the athletes' hotel by the local police. Needless to say, the athletes and coaches were very impressed with the punctuality of arriving on time to the venue.
