Competitor Radio Talks about Marathon Swimming at the Olympics


Bob Babbitt and Paul Huddle, hosts of The Competitors radio show, interviewed Mission Viejo Nadadores' Micha Burden who will be one of USA Swimming's representatives at the 2008 World Open Water Swimming Championships to be held in Seville, Spain in early May. The top ten swimmers will automatically qualify for the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim finals in Beijing.

Micha will be joined by Kirsten Groome (17) from the First Colony Swim Team who is swimming the 10K, Chloe Sutton (15) from the Mission Viejo Nadadores who is swimming the 5K, Christine Jennings (20) from the Minnesota Aquatics who is swimming the 5K and 25K, Erica Rose (25) from the Northwestern Aquatics who is swimming the 25K, Mark Warkentin (28) from the Santa Barbara Swim Team who is swimming the 10K and 25K, Chip Peterson (19) from the University of North Carolina who is swimming the 10K, Josef Kinderwater (18) from the University of North Carolina who is swimming the 5K, Chad La Tourette (19) from the Mission Viejo Nadadores who is swimming the 5K, and John Kenny (26) from the Germantown Academy Aquatic Club who is swimming the 25K.

The coaches will include Bill Rose from the Mission Viejo Nadadores, Rick Walker from Southern Illinois University, Catherine Vogt from the University of North Carolina, John Dussliere from the Santa Barbara Swim Club, and Paul Asmuth, Special Assistant to the USA Swimming National Team Head Coach.
