7 Swimmers. 100 Miles. Cold Water. Zero Wetsuits.

This Friday, 7 swimmers from the Dolphin Club of San Francisco will begin an estimated 40-hour journey down the Sacramento River to San Francisco Bay.

Their purpose is to help fight pollution in San Francisco Bay with the BayKeeper group.

The team includes swimmers Duke Dahlin, Suzanne Heim-Bowen, John Ottersberg, Laura Burtch, Tom Keller, Jon Ennis, Ralph Wenzel and Mike Chase (alternate), helpers Reuben Hechanova and Barbara Byrnes, and captain Peter Molnar.

Yes, that is Laurin training in the cold San Francisco Bay in preparation for her upcoming English Channel attempt. Do you think Laurin has built up enough brown fat (refer to http://www.10kswimmer.com/2009/05/staying-warm-with-brown-fat.html)?
