Swimming Downstream On TV

One of the world's top open water swims, the Descenso a Nado de la Ria de Navia (Navia’s Downstream Swim) is coming up on August 8th. Descenso a Nado de la Ria de Navia is also the fifth leg of the LEN Cup, a 5K race with 800€ to the winner, 500€ to second and 250€ to third for both men and women.

The following day, August 9th, the Descenso Internacional Ria de Navia will be broadcast live on television on on TPA channel in Spain and via Radiotelevisión del Principado de Asturias. The 5K men's race and the 3K women's race offers 1,000€ to the winner, 700€ to second and 400€ to third for both men and women.

Important fact: the hotel reservation will be extended one more day in full board FREE OF CHARGE to all the LEN Cup swimmers to facilitate the participation in the 52 Descenso race.

The race, held in the picturesque Ria Navia started in 1958 when 14 swimmers swam 1K in a coastal village in Asturias, Galicia in northern Spain. David Meca, a recent honoree in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, has won the race ten times.
