The Next Open Water Generation in Jersey

10-year-old Alana Powell and William Allen-Le Bas are representatives of the next generation of open water swimmers and residents of the Island of Jersey off the coast of Normandy, France in the English Channel.

Charlie and Sally Minty-Gravett submitted the photo and run the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club, formed 1974.

The Club offers numerous opportunities for open water swimmers, including the challenging 41-mile Round Jersey swim. As Sally explains, "It can be tidally assisted and you can take in the region in 12 hours. For the bilateral or left-side breathers, they can see the most scenic of outings known to man. The 17-mile Jersey-to-France swim is for the proven Channel swimmer."

"The Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club has 28 Channel crossings to its credit and a wealth of experience within its membership, along with nearly 80 solo and relay Round Jersey swims
."
